As smart phones are becoming more common, we all know the routine of entering someone's contact details into your phone..name, email, website, phone numbers etc.

When I was preparing for my guest appearance on LTG, I read through the blog of one of the hosts, Tim Haak, and came across a post on the use of bar codes on your business cards.  I knew that with Blackberry users, one could scan barcodes & generate your own for BBM, but this online tool allows you to create your own personalized bar code which can be loaded onto any phone.  http://www.the2dcode.com/qr-code-generator

On my HTC android phone I downloaded a bar code scanner app, and it is so much quicker to add new contacts...I am in heaven actually.  At the last Ferndale JUG meeting, I showed some people my new 'bar code' and there was a fellow there who had already printed his business cards with barcodes (he added a few that pointed to sites such as Calvin & Hobbes just for fun)
